Why the name “45 Solutions”?
It all started with the jersey number…
I had the opportunity to play football at Council Rock High School, located in the picturesque Bucks County, just north of Philadelphia. When I first joined the team, the coaching staff assigned me jersey #45. That number became my personal identifier throughout my high school years. I incorporated 45 into every aspect of my life, from passwords to my ATM PIN (don’t worry, I've since changed it).
As the oldest of four boys, all of us football players, I proudly held the title of the first #45 in the family. The photo to the right captures a moment from Senior Day for Council Rock football, marking the end of my high school football career. Even after retiring from the sport, the number 45 continued to hold significance in my life. I consistently used it, from my first email address to a few current usernames for streaming accounts.
When my son decided to join Pop Warner Football, I advised him to embrace his individuality. We had enough # 45s in the family. Fortunately, the number 45 was already in use, so he ended up wearing jersey number 95 his first year. He continued to wear #95 during his time in Pop Warner and Middle School Football. However, when he transitioned to High School Football at Council Rock-North High School, where I had also played and graduated, he made the deliberate choice to switch his jersey number from #95 to #45. It was a proud dad moment.
…and became a company name.
After 25 years working for other companies, with 20 of those years in Human Resources and Talent Acquisition, I decided to start my own company.
I knew I had to come up with a company name. I did not want to use my personal name or the phrase “HR” in the company name. I wanted the name to be connected somehow, I wanted it to be unique, and a way to honor the past, present, and future collectively.
Initially, the company name and logo for my company had a very different look and feel. I wanted the logo to focus on a 45-degree angle with a different name , steadily growing to show persistent growth, but it just didn’t feel right.
So, I chose to return the favor from a few years back and honor my son. I named the company after HIS jersey number 45. I changed the logo to a jersey font and changed the color scheme to be similar to his jersey (and his sister’s college colors), and it clicked.
Today, 45 Solutions offers Fractional HR and Recruiting services. We work with business owners to help them in any area of HR at a fraction of the cost of a full-time salary. The focus is on helping the business owner work ON their business rather than having to work IN any of their HR tasks. We also help companies to continue to scale by recruiting new talent to join their team.
